"Twenty Nine - 29" is a traditional South Asian trick-taking card game that has garnered significant popularity among players of all ages across India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka. In "Twenty Nine," the card hierarchy is particularly noteworthy, with the Jack and the Nine ranking as the highest cards in each suit. The game involves four players who form fixed partnerships, with teammates seated opposite each other.

To play "Twenty Nine," a specific selection of 32 cards from a standard 52-card deck is used, excluding cards below the number 7. The rank of cards in each suit is as follows: J (Jack), 9 (Nine), A (Ace), 10 (Ten), K (King), Q (Queen), 8, and 7.

The point values assigned to the cards are:

• Jacks = 3 points each
• Nines = 2 points each
• Aces = 1 point each
• Tens = 1 point each
• Kings, Queens, Eights, and Sevens = no points

Dealing and Bidding: The game begins with the dealing of cards in an anti-clockwise fashion. Each player is dealt four cards in two steps. After evaluating their initial hand, players engage in a bidding round to determine the trump suit, with bids ranging from 16 to 28. The highest bidder gains the privilege of selecting the trump suit.

Game Play: The player to the left of the dealer initiates the first trick. Players must follow the lead suit if they hold cards of that suit, while the winner of each trick leads the subsequent one. Non-bidders have the option to request that the trump bidder reveal their trump card prior to making their move. Following each round, if the winning partnership meets their targeted bid points, their game score is adjusted accordingly; if not, their score is decreased.

Special Features:

• Pair (Marriage): If a player reveals a King and Queen of the trump suit after its designation, their team earns an additional 4 points. If the bidding team displays a pair, they must achieve (bid - 4) points to win that round. Conversely, if a non-bidding team shows a pair, the bidding side must acquire (bid + 4) points for victory.
• Double: In instances where the gameplay is designated as Double mode, point values for rounds are adjusted by an increase or decrease of 2. Non-bidders may call for a double following a bid by the bidder.
